A Traditional HearSay (Audio) Wake
Dearly beloved, let us gather in Kilfinane for a collective letting go.
Building on a tradition that dates back to the first ever HearSay Festival, In The Dark are holding their traditional Irish wake, but for audio.
This is a call out to tender-hearted audio makers to bid farewell to a piece of tape which didn’t make the final cut, because you simply had to kill your darlings. You know the recording we’re talking about - you love it but you can't find a way to use it. It's time to let it go.
We invite participants at Hearsay to send us their “darlings” in advance to nina@inthedarkradio.org
No longer than 2 minutes of audio together with a short paragraph of context.
At the final ceremony, you will be invited to give a eulogy for the tape; to briefly tell the story of how the audio was captured, why you loved it, and why you have to let it go. You will get to play that bit of beloved tape to the gathered crowd.
We will do our best to play as many as we can but we will be in touch to confirm before the event.
